Just Ahead: Geithner's First Visit to India as Treasury Secretary

The Treasury has announced that Geithner will visit India April 6-7, 2010.

Paging BlackRock and the Carlyle Group. It looks like the trip is to cement totally crony deals.

On Tuesday, April 6, he will be in Delhi to launch the U.S.-India Economic and Financial Partnership with Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The newly-formed Partnership "aims to strengthen bilateral engagement and understanding on macroeconomic, financial sector and infrastructure-related issues."

On Wednesday, April 7, 2010, Geithner will visit Mumbai, the country’s financial center, to meet with Indian and American business leaders.

A new U.S. India partnership. How might Carlyle cash in on this new program?

Will it will better than the $50 million foundation U.S. taxpayers set up for Egypt's Hosni Mubarek?
